Mr. Warwick Lord is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)of the Cato Ridge inland Port ’’CRIP” Pty (Ltd). The purpose of this project is primarily to improve efficiencies in the movement of freight and promote industrial development along the Durban – Free State – Gauteng corridor as one of the most strategic arteries of the South African economy. The project aims to develop a Strategic Dry Port in Cato Ridge as a Back of the Port facility that seeks to lower the cost logistics, promote efficiency and decongest the Durban port and CBD thereby creating additional capacity for the port.

Cape Town Inland Port (CTIP) is in the initial planning stages and is being developed in parallel with and adjacent to the Cape Winelands Airport (CWA). It is a highly strategic location for a multimodal inland port, with connectivity to road, rail and air freight and linkages to the Port of Cape Town. The 50ha site is close to Belcon, a nearby rail hub; container freight can be easily distributed for both import and export via the Port.

The regeneration initiative will renew 68 hectares of Transnet land at Kazerne to deliver the City Deep regeneration project – 1M sqm of rail-connected, carbon-neutral warehousing including a new rail terminal with a capital value of R12.7Bn and the creation of over 13,700 direct jobs and 35,000 indirect jobs.

This technology will increase supply chain efficiency by relieving port or terminal congestion in local, regional, and national corridors. This will result in the creation of job and business opportunities – promotion of SMME businesses.

RailRunner South Africa Pty (Ltd), which aims to deploy technology that can run on both road and rail without handling the cargo. This technology will increase supply chain efficiency by relieving port or terminal congestion in local, regional, and national corridors. This will result in job and business opportunities, with a particular focus on SMME businesses. A typical 50-container RailRunner train traveling 900 km creates an estimated carbon savings of 13,596 tons.
